The Prosecution Department is the link between the Police Force and Magistrate’s Court, Director of Public Prosecution’s Office and the Attorney General’s Chambers.
This department represents the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force in the Magistrate Court.
This department is responsible for the following:
- Prosecuting all summary cases before the Magistrate’s Court;
- Prosecuting cases in the Juvenile Court;
- Conducting hearings regarding liquor license applications;
- Presenting evidence in Coroner’s inquest;
- Providing security to the Magistrate’s Court; and
- Provide a support service to the Magistrate and court staff.
The Prosecution Department operates on a day to day basis within the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
