Police confirm that US Coast Guard auxiliary aircraft have spotted the missing fisherman in his vessel one mile north of Anegada late this afternoon. The VISAR team is now on their way to meet the boat.
The fisherman, Elroy Henley, 52 years, of Freebottom, once rescued, will be taken to Anegada and later transported to Tortola. Henley, who reportedly had mechanic problem, has been adrift for over to three days.
US Coast Guard aircraft made an aerial fix on Henley's location and based coordinates, the VISAR team is moving in to make the rescue. The missing fisherman made initial cellular phone this morning with a fishing colleague.
VISAR and US Coast Guard had joined the Police Marine Unit on Monday in its effort to locate the lone fisherman after he was reported missing early that morning.
Inspector John Crellin of Police Marine Unit said that US Coast Guard had extended their search of the Territory's waters into the U.S. waters throughout the night and into Wednesday morning with the use of their helicopter.
Henley left Road Town on Saturday morning to fish in an area near the Virgin Gorda Bluff with the intention of returning Sunday evening. As of 8am Monday morning, he had not returned.
