The Royal Virgin Islands Police Force is preparing to host a number of sporting activities to mark Police Week which opens this Sunday.
Topping these events is a 20/20 Wilson Sylvester/Gregory Alleyne Memorial Cricket Match to be held on the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College on Monday evening at 3pm. The following night, a football match is to be held at the Virgin Gorda Playing Field at 6pm and softball rematch between the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and HM Customs is scheduled for Wednesday night at the Old Recreation Ground at 6pm.
This upcoming Sunday, February 21 the public is invited to come out and see officers challenge each other in athletics skills with novelty races at the A. O. Shirley Grounds. Time is 3pm.
Junior Pool Eliminations and Finals will be held Tuesday and Wednesday at 3:30pm at the Road Town Police Station respectively.
One of the highlights of the Police Week will be a Men's March to be held on Saturday, 27 February begin at 4pm. Men from civil, community and religious organizations from around the Territory are expected to gather and take their stand against the social ills that face this community at this first-of-its-kind event in BVI. The march, which is to begin at the Government House, will end at the Althea Scatliffe Primary School Grounds with a special guest presentation and a Police and Cadets Drill Display.
This 43rd year celebration and the theme is 'Bridging the gap through partnerships in a changing society".
